The Self – Poem

The Self
By Diana Arco

I could be anything,
And anyone
That I’m not.

I could reach anything,
And the thing
I won’t touch.

The self
Is my most precious
And only gem.

Having my own fingerprints,
I feel the blood
Running through my veins.

And my spirit
In such ecstasy,
Wild and free.

I could be who I’ll never be…
But In freedom,
I choose always to be me.

Through the glass
