Books Are Magic

Flying Books

Greetings everyone!

Today I feel the need to share with you why “books are magic”… So I found such amazing quotes.

Enjoy!

“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
― Neil Gaiman, Coraline

“I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library.”
― Jorge Luis Borges

“If one cannot enjoy reading a book over and over again, there is no use in reading it at all.”
― Oscar Wilde

“You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
― Madeleine L’Engle

“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.”
― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.”
― Stephen King, On Writing

“I cannot live without books.”
― Thomas Jefferson

“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
― Augustine of Hippo

“Books should go where they will be most appreciated, and not sit unread, gathering dust on a forgotten shelf, don’t you agree?”
― Christopher Paolini

“My Best Friend is a person who will give me a book I have not read.”
― Abraham Lincoln

“If you take a book with you on a journey,” Mo had said when he put the first one in her box, “an odd thing happens: The book begins collecting your memories. And forever after you have only to open that book to be back where you first read it. It will all come into your mind with the very first words: the sights you saw in that place, what it smelled like, the ice cream you ate while you were reading it… yes, books are like flypaper—memories cling to the printed page better than anything else.”
― Cornelia Funke, Inkheart

“I don’t believe in the kind of magic in my books. But I do believe something very magical can happen when you read a good book.”
― J.K. Rowling

“Everything in the world exists in order to end up as a book.”
― Stéphane Mallarmé

“Books are the treasured wealth of the world and the fit inheritance of generations and nations.”
― Henry David Thoreau, Walden

“Sleep is good, he said, And books are better.”
― George R.R. Martin

“He was the crazy one who had painted himself black and defeated the world.

She was the book thief without the words.

Trust me, though, the words were on their way, and when they arrived, Liesel would hold them in her hands like the clouds, and she would wring them out like rain.”
― Markus Zusak, The Book Thief

“A book is a gift you can open again and again.”
― Garrison Keillor

The Writer In Us! Where to go?

How writers are

Greetings, everyone!

Happy monday and starting of the week!

I felt the need to come here to you and talk about ourselves, the “writers” that we are.
Some of us are accomplished and successful writers, or we are just starting the adventure, while others only write for themselves and their loved ones. There it is the writer in us, and we are in the need to express ourselves, to create a whole new world, to follow all the rules, to break them all, to create new rules, to follow our own consciouness in our master pieces.
We enjoy this freedom to sit ourselves in a confortable place or a noisy one, and there we are listening to music or the noise, drinking our favorite beverage, and getting in touch with our spark of inspiration. Our fingers fly holding the pen that writes on that notebook when we feel ourselves oldfashion. Our hands fly all over the keyboard of our laptops. We are just creating, giving form to that love letter with all our soul, or to that poem, or that chapter of your manuscript, or that article for your blog, or for that famous magazine, journal. It’s like breathing, eating, walking, running… it’s part of each one of us in our daily lives.
Every single day a master piece is born and it’s on its way into the light. I strongly believe each word created was meat to go out and reach where it must. How this happens? It is you, my dear writer, the one, the owner of your own writing’s destiny. I bet you have experienced that a weak writing is not going anywhere. I strongly believe that when you write with all your might, all your intentions, your affirmations, all that love and positive ways within yourself there is no way that you can go wrong. You must believe you are going to get there someday where you really wish to be, even when you’re not aware about it today, even when you are in doubts sometimes and have fears, you gotta stand up for yourself to find answers and continue your journey… to continue writing. You are the one who gives to yourself the green and / or the red light in your road when you must need it.

Remember, there is someone outside that needs to read you and your creations. They are waiting for you… my dear writer.

Sincerely,
Diana.

All the light, life, love, and freedom from the heart and soul.

Why I chose to write “The Composer and The Flycatcher” in poetry prose?

About my upcoming title “The Composer and The Flycatcher”…

God knows I tried to write my fantasy tale using the “normal”, established, narration style according to what I learned at school and my experience as a reader.. I love to read, I read every single day and I have lots of books at home, in my room.  My favorite author is Paulo Coelho and my all time favorite book is “The Alchemist”…http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Alchemist_(novel) (Please read the link)

So, 4 years ago, when I decided  my “This is it” time to write “The Composer and The Flycatcher”… I was so excited with this new adventure.   There I was writing and deleting, but feeling myself I was going nowhere.  “I have the idea, but the narration is not working for me!” – I used to say this to myself at nights before going to bed.

One day I woke up and I started to take notes in my journal.   “Why this is not working for me? Why I’m not happy with this? Is it my idea so bad that I cannot move forward?  Is this narration that I’am using is it really my own voice?  All writers have their own and unique voices.  The doubts were inside of me.  That’s when it came to me… “This not my voice!”

“What is it that I like the most when I read?” – I asked this to myself one day.  Of course I love fantasy fiction books. I also love  poetry, and song lyrics.    I wondered if I was able to use a little bit of each and apply them to the writing of my manuscript.   “I’m going to have fun with this.” – I smiled to myself.  “I have nothing to lose in here.”

I started writing, formating, giving structure to my manuscript.  My words were dancing and my characters coming alive!.  I was unstoppable from first day until the end of the first draft.   I was happy with my composition!  I’m so happy with my voice!

Please, stay in touch for more…

Diana.
